I mean...Hello, wine slushies!
This is a simple, four-ingredient recipe that'll knock your socks off. These vino slush drinks are refreshing, pleasantly sweet and oh-so-delizioso.
You'll want to make them for every dinner party, book club meeting or just a casual Saturday night. (Speaking of that, be sure to check out my hubby's other Drink Recipes!)
Keep in mind, you'll need to freeze the wine into cubes for these slushies, so allow four hours for that part. The rest is quick and easy!
Recipe ingredients
All you need is red wine, water, sugar and ice for this wine slushie recipe.
Wine – You can use red, white, or even rosé wine. We prefer making red wine slushies because of the vibrant color and contrast. You could also make Moscato slushies or add frozen fruit to make sangria slushies!
Just be sure to use a wine that’s not too dry, or it may not be sweet enough. We really like Cabernet Sauvignon.
Sugar - We're using granulated sugar here. We haven't tried making these with a sugar substitute, but that should work. You'd probably need to use less than the amount of sugar called for in the recipe.
How to make wine slushies

You can make up to four wine slushies at a time in a blender. Repeat this twice to make all eight slushies for this recipe.
- Fill two ice cube trays with the wine and freeze for four hours.
- Add some of the frozen wine cubes to your blender (affiliate link).
- Whisk the sugar into the cold water until dissolved.
- Pour the sugar/water mixture into the blender. Add clear ice.
- Blend just until slushy and pour into stemless wine glasses (affiliate link).
Recipe tips
- Be careful not to blend the slushies too long. You want to make sure there's visible crushed ice.
- To make just two wine slushies, use six frozen wine cubes, one cup of cold water, three tablespoons of sugar and one cup of ice.
What to serve with them
There's nothing like sipping a frozen drink on the patio while enjoying some tasty bites! You can serve your wine slushies with delicious appetizers like Tomato Bruschetta with Balsamic Glaze, Parmesan Focaccia with Rosemary, or Cream Cheese Stuffed Dates.
Frozen wine slushies also make a nice introduction to an Italian dinner of pasta with Marinara Sauce, Chicken Cutlets, and any of these Italian Side Dishes.
Frequently asked questions
You can freeze wine in ice cube trays. Thawed wine won't taste as good as wine that was never frozen, but you can mix it in drinks like sangria or use it for cooking.
You can freeze leftover wine slushies in plastic or glass containers for up to two weeks. Thaw them on the counter until you can scoop them into serving glasses.

Red Wine Slushies
Ingredients
- 1 750 ml bottle of red wine
- 4 cups cold water (divided use)
- ¾ cup sugar (divided use)
- 4 cups ice cubes (divided use)
Instructions
- Fill two ice cube trays with red wine and freeze them for four hours. You can make eight slushies right away, or make two at a time (see notes) and save the remaining frozen wine cubes for another time.
- To make eight slushies, you'll need to make the recipe in two parts, since everything won't fit in the blender at once. Start with two cups of cold water in a measuring cup. Whisk in six tablespoons of sugar until completely dissolved. (Don't heat it, because you need the mixture to be cold.)
- Add 12 frozen wine cubes to your blender. Pour the sugar/water mixture into the blender. Add two cups of plain ice cubes. Blend briefly, just until slushy. Pour the slushies into four glasses and repeat the process to make four more. (You will have four extra wine cubes that you can throw into the blender with this batch, or save for later use.)
- Store any leftover slushies in a plastic or glass container in the freezer. Thaw them at room temperature until slushy.
Notes

- To make two slushies, place six frozen wine cubes in the blender. In a measuring cup, whisk one cup of cold water with three tablespoons of sugar until it's dissolved completely. Pour the water mixture into the blender, add one cup of plain ice cubes and blend until slushy.
